On the east coast of Gotland lies Kyllaj, a small coast line village filled with tales that speaks of a rich and adventurous history.
Limestone started shipping out of the adjacent harbor in the 17th century. To protect this treacherous asset, custom officers set up post. They were called Riding officers of Kyllaj. As time passed, the duties of the Riding officers shifted, and they were now seen as guardians of the village.
This 6th edition of Isle of Lime sends us back to a place and time when the Gotland was at the center of heavy smuggling operations. Toast to the brave men that protected the Gotlandic coast line in times where the only light you could see was the flame of a torch on the beach!
